Meet Sabrina: One of our top senior-level College Readiness consultants with a thorough background in Psychology, Pre-Medicine, and working with young adults. Sabrina utilizes our unique Ivy Admissions method to guide students through the college application process and help strengthen their narratives.
Sabrina completed her undergraduate degree from Pitzer College and The Middle Eastern Technical University with a B.S. in Psychology and a focus in Pre-Medicine, which included core science subjects. In college, she participated in investigating new genetic pathways involved in Parkinson’s disease in order to define new drug targets. In addition to her major, she also held a great interest in philosophy and contemporary art history.
Throughout school, she has taken different opportunities to provide mentorship by tutoring elementary through high school students in the local Claremont community. Her passion for education stimulates her to help people build the necessary skills to navigate the healthcare system and achieve their personal/educational goals. This also motivated her to work as a counselor at Job Corps, a vocational program for at-risk underserved young adults. There, she gained a comprehensive understanding of educational barriers facing young adults in the Bay Area and worked closely with instructors to make sure reasonable accommodations were being met. She also provided extensive counseling and acted as a liaison to various mental health, healthcare, and community resources.
Sabrina’s interest in the future innovations of the healthcare system led her to move into the technology industry where she was employed at Phil as a Patient Advocate – helping patients with medication adherence. Currently, Sabrina is working in operations at a bodywork clinic where she is learning more about how psychiatric issues affect the body and how various integrative and alternative treatments can be beneficial to patients while also studying rigorously for the MCAT exam. She is an aspiring psychiatrist and holds a special interest in approaching psychiatric and neurological issues on a population health basis.
In her free time, Sabrina enjoys creating art, music, and learning more about the human psyche. She loves learning about people – any opportunity to meet and get to know someone new is welcomed with open arms.
Overall, Sabrina is passionate about approaching students whose educational barriers may be ambiguous. Her natural inclination toward empathy is useful in understanding multidimensional situations and in identifying root causes that may be overlooked. There is no perfect educational system and she believes her acceptance of this concept fuels her continuous motivation to understand and meet her students’ unique needs.
