Understanding m... read moreAs my junior year began to close and senior year loomed ahead, I felt daunted by the seemingly endless forms and essays that come with the college application process. I had my goal of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do, but I desperately needed guidance on everything in between: planning college essays, editing them, reaching out to professors, bolstering my application. Understanding my trepidation at the scale of the task ahead, my mother suggested that we use Ivy Admissions, and it is thanks to that decision that I got into my dream university. Deeana, my counselor, began our first session by spending hours in a call with me to understand my background and my goals, and from there laid out a detailed plan on what I had to do, beginning with finding a suitable summer internship. She presented me several options and aided me in writing the required essays, and I ended up being accepted at two experiences which led me on the path I am on today: the first as a researcher at the Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program(ASDRP) and the other as a programming intern at Cisco Systems. After my senior year began, Deeana worked with me week after week in perfecting my personal statement and UC essays, guiding me through how to attack the questions in a clear yet succinct manner and illuminating me to the minutiae that college admissions officers look out for. I was blown away by the detail that she and her staff put into my application and the rapid response I was given to my questions, numerous as they were. Throughout the process, Deanna and her team edited and helped me outline my essays in a timely manner, and everything was organized on a google spreadsheet and google drive. The team is flexible, encouraging, and understanding of the points I want to give across in my essays. I liked having someone there to make sure I was on track with my college applications. IvyAdmissions helped me get into Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley computer science, two reach schools tied first place nationally for computer science. I was also accepted into UMich, UIUC, USC, and UT for computer science as well. Even after the college application process ends, IvyAdmissions offers assistance with scholarship applications as well, which is also very helpful. I worked with Deeana for preparing for the SAT and studying with her for 2 weeks resulted in a 70 point increase. She was very understanding, helpful and well versed in the SAT material.

Instead, Ivy Admissions gave me constructive criticism that I had to work through on my own so that I could project my own voice and authentic personality through my essays– I felt that my essays truly represented me as an individual.
